Who is who?
And once again it’s not fair to talk about Jimmy only, because the music project LondonBeat was formed from its four members like our Universe is formed of its 4 elements. The initiative of Jimmy Helmes was supported by a Native American George Chandler, who moved to the Foggy Albion to find some inspiration for his new beats. Jimmy Chambers joined them later. And the “cherry on the cake” of the British quartet was a native Englishman, a guitar player William Henshall. It can be a real wonder, but by the time of the first performance of the artists from the music band LondonBeat each one of them was already a famous musician: Mr. Henshall played rock music in several English bands, Mr. Chambers and Mr. Chandler worked together as background singers for Paul Young, a musician, who was at the apogee of his glory at that time. And Mr. Helmes was known as a new BBC “star”and a lyricist of the single «Gonna Make You An Offer».
About the past and the present of LondonBeat
The first joint tour of artists was held in the Netherlands in 1990. Immediately after it the owner of a popular music label «Anxious» Dave Stewart decided to sign a contract with the talented guys to release a debut music album. Using this chance, Jimmy and his team promoted a hit «9PM», composed in 1988. And shortly after they recorded a LP called «Speak», that easily entered all the charts, like Тор20 of Great Britain. Deciding not to rest on one’s oars, the music project LondonBeat released a hit «Falling In Love Again».
With a very high possibility of being less popular, because at that time there was a lot going on a the members of this music band changed, the single still made it to the top.
At that time very talented and artistic Antony Blaze and Charles Pierre took the place of Henshall and Chandler. It became a momentum for creativity, and in the same year LondonBeat released «In The Blood» at a music label «BMG», including a single «I’ve Been Thinking About You», that made it to №2 in European charts in 1990. A little bit later the band released singles such as «A Better Love», «You Bring On The Sun», and a cover version «No Woman No Cry» and they carried on up until 2001 when new members came on board again.
The new team included two Jimmies, who were joined by a new soloist William Upshaw. The new album called «Back in the hi-life» was released later, including a new smash hit called «Where are you?». In 2004 they appeared on MTV – Russia in the talk show «Total Show». And at present booking these unique artists with their A CAPELLA performances is considered to be a good taste among members of the Russian society.
